Gifts to Ramallah Scholarship contribute to...
The Ramallah Scholarship is an annual scholarship established in 2014 for students with demonstrated financial need from the region of Ramallah, Palestine, or the Ramallah Friends School.
Contributing to this annual scholarship will assist students on a yearly basis, providing financial support and impacting their educational experience at Guilford College.
We asked some of our Palestinian alums and current students to share what a Guilford College education means to them. Read about Samer’s experience below.
“It was during that time [a service-learning trip at the Ramallah Friends School] that Jane and Max encouraged me to enroll in Guilford College, made possible only through the full tuition Ramallah Friends Scholarship. This decision has shaped my life in immeasurable ways. I've learned that Physics is my passion. I met the late Rex Adelberger, who taught me to trust in myself and look into the stars, figuratively and literally. I've explored the unlimited bounds of human potential when unrestrained by a military occupation. I'm now leading a large engineering organization building advanced systems for monitoring the health of computer infrastructure powering websites like Airbnb, Uber, and many others.
It was the privilege of a lifetime to attend Guilford College, made possible only through the generosity of donors who funded my full tuition scholarship. Many Palestinians are now going through much more difficult times than those I've ever encountered, and yet opportunities like the ones granted to me are also harder to come by. It should be the opposite.”
